New Hero Splendor Plus XTEC India launch: Top 5 Highlights

Hero MotoCorp has announced the launch of the new Splendor Plus XTEC in the Indian market. This iteration of the commuter motorcycle benefits from a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster among other things and here we list its top five highlights.

Styling and Colours

The overall design looks similar to the standard motorcycle and the new Splendor Plus XTEC retains a rectangular headlight with a body-coloured cowl, a curvy fuel tank, single-piece seat, rear luggage rack, side-slung exhaust, and a five-spoke alloy wheels. Hero MotoCorp will offer the new Splendor Plus XTEC in four colours – Sparkling Beta Blue, Canvas Black, Tornado Grey, and Pearl White. The subtle graphics that are visible on the headlight cowl, fuel tank, and side panel give the motorcycle a modern look.

Features

The biggest upgrade to the motorcycle comes in the cockpit, and the Hero Splendor Plus XTEC gets a fully-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The fully digital display offers incoming and missed call alerts, new message alerts, two trip meters with the Real-Time Mileage Indicator, and a low fuel indicator. It also gets an integrated USB charging port. The module, unlike the Glamour XTEC, does not get a turn-by-turn navigation system.

Engine

The Splendor Plus XTEC retains the 97.2cc BS6-compliant, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine from the standard model. Linked to a four-speed gearbox, the motor produces 7.9bhp at 7,000rpm and 8.05Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. It also benefits from the i3S (Idle Stop-Start System) technology that is aimed to deliver better fuel efficiency.

Hardware

Similar to the engine, the hardware, too, is identical to the standard Splendor Plus. Thus, the suspension tasks are handled by telescopic front forks and twin rear springs. The braking duties are performed by drum brakes on both wheels while the safety net includes combined braking system. Other safety features include a side-stand engine cut-off and a bank angle sensor that cuts off the engine during a fall.

Variants and Price

The new Hero Splendor Plus XTEC will be available in a single variant and it has been priced at Rs 72,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle is backed with a five-year warranty.
