Adani Group chief Gautam Adani has become the world’s 4th richest person with a net worth of $115.5 billion, surpassing Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, according to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires List.
As per Forbes data, Adani’s fortune surged by $2.9 billion, thanks to sharp run-up in Adani Group stocks.
The rankings of billionaires shuffled after Microsoft founder Bill Gates last week announced $20 billion donation of his wealth to his non-profit organisation – Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Adani’s compatriot Reliance Group boss Mukesh Ambani, with a fortune of $87.7 billion, was placed at 10th on the Forbes list.

However, Adani is placed at 5th position on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His fortune stood at $110 billion, as per Bloomberg real-time data.

Adani Group’s interests span infrastructure, commodities, power generation and transmission and real estate.

Adani Group chief recently pledged to donate Rs 60,000 crore for social causes on his 60th birthday.

The donation corpus, under the Adani Foundation management, will be used for healthcare, education and skill development.

On his family’s pledge to charity works, Adani had said, “At a very fundamental level, programs related to all these three areas should be seen holistically and they collectively form the drivers to build an equitable and future-ready India. Our experience in large project planning and execution and the learnings from the work done by the Adani Foundation will help us uniquely accelerate these programs.”
