A popular street fighter, Bajaj Pulsar 160NS competes with rivals such as TVS Apache RTR 160, Yamaha FZS-FI and Hero Xtreme 160R. To keep it relevant to evolving customer preferences, Bajaj has launched next-gen version of Pulsar 160NS. Price starts from Rs 1.27 lakh, ex-sh, Delhi. In its new avatar, it has been rebranded as N160.

Apart from the new Pulsar N160, Bajaj is also getting ready to launch a new colour of Pulsar 250. Interestingly, Bajaj had also shared a teaser last week, for Pulsar 250 Eclipse edition.

New-gen Bajaj Pulsar N160 key updates

Next-gen Pulsar N160 comes with a range of visual enhancements. For example, the headlamp looks entirely new, featuring a redesigned casing and compact projector unit. It is inspired by the Pulsar N250.

Another key change can be seen in the fuel tank that now gets longer extensions. The tail section looks familiar, but tail lights could feature a new design. The bike is known for its aggressive muscular styling, which will be carried forward or improved further. It gets Under Belly Exhaust, 795 mm seat height, Crystalline LED Tail Lamps, Bi-Functional LED Projector headlamp with wolf LED DRLs,

Next-gen Pulsar 160N gets an updated fully digital instrument console with gear position indicator, distance to empty. It also gets USB mobile charger. Another update are the new colour options. The current model is offered in colour options of Metallic Pearl White, Burnt Red and Pewter Grey.

New 2022 Pulsar N160 is offered in 4 colours. 3 are with single disc variants – Blue, Red and Grey. While the Black colour is exclusively for the dual ABS variant of Pulsar N160.

New-gen Bajaj Pulsar N 160 engine

Powering the new Bajaj Pulsar N 160 will be the same 160.3cc, oil cooled, Twin Spark BS6 DTS-i FI engine as earlier. It will deliver 16 PS (11.7 kW) Power and 14.65 Nm Torque. This, when compared to the outgoing Pulsar NS160, is a reduction of 1.2 PS, as the older Pulsar 160 delivered 17.2 PS power and 14.6 Nm torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Ride quality has been improved, thanks to Best-in-class gear shifting feel combined with damper for better noise and vibration characteristics. Bajaj claims that the new Pulsar N160 delivers Best-in-Class Passing Acceleration – Pulsar N160 is fastest in the 160cc segment in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear in terms of passing acceleration (30-70 kmph).

The older model had telescopic front forks with anti-friction brush and Nitrox mono shock absorber with canister at the rear. The new one gets updated Best-in-class Front Suspension and New Nitrox Monoshock Suspension. Wider tyres (100/80-17 F, 130/70-17 R) provide better stability and control. Older 160 came with 90/90-17 at the front and 120/80-17 at the rear.

Braking has been improved as well, with a new 300mm disc in the front and 230 mm disc at the rear. In the older Pulsar, the rear disc was the same size, but the front was smaller at 260mm. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard. Older Bajaj Pulsar 160 had kerb wt of 151 kg and offered 177 mm of ground clearance. Fuel tank capacity is rated at 12 litres.

Expect changes in these numbers as well with the new Pulsar 160. Thanks to these updates, the new-gen Bajaj Pulsar 160NS has been launched with a price hike. The older model was priced at Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). New one is priced from Rs 1.27 lakh, ex-sh Delhi.
